Therapeutic interventions are a positive treatment plan. While they are not a cure for personality disorders, they can help a person cope with their disease and work through how to handle it. This gives them the tools to use later on with how to deal with their disease when it becomes more aggressive.
The intended use of medications is to reduce the risks and distress in an acute phase phase of mental illness and hopefully help the individual benefit more from psychological interventions. Sadly for many this is not the case and they to life with only medication and not a reviewed cognitive map. I currently work in a Sub Acute Facility and have tried to see introduced WRAP and Person centered planning but am rebuffed by the dominant medical model employed here.
