Communication plays a vitally important role within a company. If there is no communication within the employees the company becomes dysfunctional and the sales and marketing of the company falls away altogether. Very interesting and very relevant to everyone

Theodore Levitt used the term "marketing myopia" to refer to the situation when companies are "product-oriented instead of customer oriented" (second paragraph of his article). He didn't apply the term specifically to competition but rather to organization's marketing strategy. http://thelawdictionary.org/marketing-myopia/ http://education-portal.com/academy/lesson/marketing-myopia-examples-definition-summary.html#lesson http://www.businessdictionary.com/definition/marketing-myopia.html

Communicating effecttively has become somewhat of an art. There are so many parameters that marketers use that the same message must be felt the same by each different way, ensuring the consumer is engaging or simply knowing the message the company is getting across, rather it be an ad, commercial, trade show or flyer. Competition thrives innovative technology and creates marketing guru's who can think outside the box while staying ahead of the competition.

Although Coke and Pepsi might not see a big shift in market share during their marketing campaigns, just wait and see what happens if one decides not to run a campaign. They are not fighting to gain market share but to keep market share.
