After "les" you have always the liaison if the following word begins with a vowel (or a "normal" mute "h"), And in general after all the determinants, you have the mandatory liaison (les, deux, des, etc), Ex: les oiseaux = the birds I think when you have the qualifying adjective before the noun, you have the mandatory liaison. Or the adverb qualifiying the adjective, placed before the adjective. Ex; Petit ami (boyfriend), Un grand homme = a great man (but un homme grand = a tall man). Deux enfants = 2 children. Très utile = very useful. When you have "-" (le tiret) you have a mandatory liaison: Ont-il étudié? (did they study). C'est-à-dire = i.e. Sont-ils arrrivés? = Did they arrive? A-t-on étudié? = did we study? The video is wrong on this. After "nous" and "vous" you have a liaison, but not if those pronouns are inversed, like in a question. Nous aimons (liaison) = we like/love. Vous en avez (liaison)= you have some. So, remember you have the liaison after "nous" and "vous", those advebs:"très" and "tout". "plus" (plus ou moins = more or less), "moins" (ex: moins un), chez. Question tags: quand. For "avant" you don't have the liaison except in avant-hier, because it's an expression (the day before yesterday) and because there is the "-". Avant Anne = no liaison (before Anne) Un garçon aimable = a nice boy. No liaison because the adjective is after the noun I think. No liaison the liaison before a "est". L'étudiant est parti = the student is gone. But a liaison after the "est" or the "es". Tu es une bête (liaison) = you are a beast. Il est un idiot (the liaison is not mandatory) = he is an idiot. The reason if to no confuse orally "et" and "est". No liaison after "et", never. Une pomme et une poire = an apple and a pear. En haut et en bas = on the top and on the bottom. No liaison with the words "onze" and "oui". Les onze élèves = the 11 students. Un oui et un non = a yes and a no. Never a liaison before Comment or Combien. Comment est-elle? = how is she? (but you have the liaison between "est" and "elle", remember the "-") Combien en as-tu? = How many/much do you have? Toujours ici = contrary to what the video says, you can make the liaison. The liaison does exist after the adverb "toujours". Parlez-vous anglais = normally no liaison, but you can make it if you want. (the video is wrong on this)

Much more detail than I've ever seen before - it explains about the rules - and the exceptions which can be very puzzling. To hear at the same time you see is very helpful. Thank you.
