    So, in fact, what backs up US Treasuries is NOT the government but the government's ability to levy taxes on the people, i.e., as much as is needed to fulfill its obligation. Is there not a limit to the amount of wealth the government can take from the people? Could the government not monetize its debt obligations simply due to its excessive spending habits? Once again this will harm individual holders of Federal Reserve Notes and US Treasury holders by debasing their purchasing power of their dollar and the value of their asset, i.e., treasure bonds.
