The Diffraction of light

Diffraction is the spreading of light as it passes through an opening or
around an obstacle.

A particle theory has a lot of trouble explaining diffraction. A beam of
particles tends to be blocked by any barrier and a sharp shadow forms. A
wave theory can easily account for diffraction since other waves, such as
sound and water waves, diffract.
