Calculations when only part of the motion is circular

Even when just part of a motion is circular, the equations of circular
motion may apply.

For example, in the roller coaster track shown below, the equations of
circular motion would apply at the bottom of the track (assuming that there
is no friction). (The complete circle is shown in dotted lines).
