Physics -Net force

Net force

Often more than one force acts on an object. The combined effect of these
forces will determine how the motion changes, if it does. The combined
effect is the _net force_ on the object. This is determined by vector
addition of all the forces acting on the object.

Two forces acting in opposite directions.

Find the net force [1] acting on the object:

This method of adding forces can be used whenever all the forces are in
one dimension.

When two dimensions are involved, vectors need to be drawn and the vectors
added. Alternatively, perpendicular components of each vector can be found
and these can be added to give the components of the net force. [2] These,
in turn, can be added to give the net force. An example of this can be
found in the _Applying Newton's Laws_ section.
