Hydrolysis of starch to glucose

Starch occurs in all green plants, stored in small granules and mainly in
unripe fruits. As the fruit ripens, the starch is converted to glucose
according the hydrolysis represented below:

Once again, the hydrolysis involves adding water across the ether
functional group.
