Chemistry - Trends in the periodic table
Trends in the periodic table
Many important properties of the elements (and many of their compounds)
show distinct trends across the periods and down the groups of the periodic
Some of these trends may initially be surprising, but they can be linked
with the attraction of the nucleus for the outermost electrons in the atom.
The outermost electrons are highly significant because they are the ones
directly affected during chemical reactions.
