Redox reactions; combining oxidation and reduction half-equations -
The amount of hydrogen peroxide H2O2 present in an aqueous solution may be
determined via the redox reaction occurring between H2O2 molecules and
permanganate MnO4 ions in acidified solution. H2O2 molecules are oxidised
to O2 molecules and MnO4(aq) ions are reduced to Mn(aq) ions.
Write (a) balanced oxidation and reduction half-equations, and (b) a
balanced overall equation for this redox reaction.
