Chemistry - Polymer chain
At each site where a carboxyl -COOH group reacts with an hydroxy -OH
group, an ester group forms, linking the diacid and dialcohol molecules
into a polymer chain.
This polymer is called a polyester because it is characterised by the
presence of multiple ester groups.
The polymerisation process is described as _condensation polymerisation_
because water molecules are eliminated (condensed out) at the sites where
ester links form.
