Chemistry - Titration
The key pieces of laboratory equipment mentioned previously are used in
volumetric analysis procedures involving titration.
Titration requires accurate measurements in reactions between two
solutions. It involves
* using a pipette to add an accurate volume (aliquot) of one solution to
a titration flask
* adding an appropriate indicator to the titration flask
* adding the other solution to a burette and then gradually adding that
solution to the titration flask, from the burette, until the end of the
reaction is shown by a change in indicator colour. The volume of solution
added from the burette is referred to as a titre.
