Chemistry - Writing chemical formulae
Writing chemical formulae
When writing chemical formulae, the positively charged ions (called
cations) are always written first and the negatively charged ions (called
anions) follow.
If more than one of either ion is required to cancel the charge of the
other (to give a neutral compound), the number is written as a subscript.
Print the valence table as you will need it for the chemical formulae
animation and activity below.
View the animation for examples on writing chemical formulae.
