Auto-Immune Diseases, Rejection of Transplants

Auto-immune diseases result from the immune system being unable to
recognise self from non-self. B and T-cells attack the body's own tissues
and transplanted tissues.

Drugs such as cyclosporin are used to suppress or inhibit the action of
the immune system. Cyclosporin acts against T-cells, leaving the other
components of the immune system to operate.
