Biology - Structure of proteins
Structure of proteins
Proteins contain carbon, hydrogen, oxygen and nitrogen (N). Some also
possess sulphur (S) and phosphorus (P).
All proteins are made up of a series of joined together. There are many
different types of amino acids. [1]
During digestion, [2] the protein in your food is broken down into amino
acids. These amino acids are taken out of the digestive system and
transported to cells in your body in the blood. The amino acids are then
rearranged in the cells to form proteins that the cells need.
