Biology - Chloroplasts in the cytoplasm
Chloroplasts in the cytoplasm
Chloroplasts are organelles that are found in the cytoplasm of plant
cells.
Chloroplasts are the site of a chemical process called photosynthesis.
Through photosynthesis, plants use sunlight and simple nutrients (water and
carbon dioxide) to make sugar. Plant cells involved in photosynthesis
contain numerous chloroplasts.
Chlorophyll is a substance that is essential for photosynthesis. It is
found within chloroplasts. Chlorophyll gives plants their characteristic
green colour.
