    hello I will come to the course titled limited design of steel structure we all know steel is very useful material in construction industry still has lot of advantageous properties like high strength to weight ratio high ductility which is equivalent and also fast construction at site because of several advantages properties of steel it is mostly used in construction industry but the most disadvantages property of Steel is the high cost so we need to make a design philosophy in such a way that accurate design construction can be done so that our buildings or structures can become safe but economical many of the skyscrapers in an around our country and also in abroad are made of steel some of the example classical example we can see from past like how the bridge in Kolkata you see it is steel into chip rich structure which has made wrong before using working stress method then the Olympic Stadium at Beijing another classical example is the Eiffel Tower in Paris these are all steel intensive structures refinery structures are also made with steel water tank which can be made of concrete or it can be made of steel in case of steel water tank it has several advantage and also in the lower platform we often look steel structure steel platforms said and then the famous wall Trade Center we know that was also made of steel we know steel has enormous advantages properties but it has high cost therefore we need to use it in a cost-effective way this is possible if we design such structures in an accurate manner desired mythology should be such that members will not be an economical and at the same time member should be hundred percent safe this is possible if we use the limit State design philosophy limits the medium philosophy comprises of two parameters one is ultimate limit state another is submissive dilemma state present course will deal with the design of steel structure using limit State method of design this design method is based on the latest Indian Standard Code which was published in 2007 namely is 800 2007 on the basis of is 800 2007 the whole subject this whole topic will be covered the anatomy of steel structure as you know consists of tension member compression member then flexural member then the foundation and different type of connections connections in steel structure is required to connect different members like beam and column column and column beam and beam etcetera this course will cover the type of connection one is bolt connection another each will connection now the advantage and disadvantages of different connections will be spelt out in our course also the eccentric connection due to different plane of loading will also be discussed in this course then we will discuss the design of tensile member and its different cases then we'll come to the compression member compression member with built up sections along with the lacing and batten systems after covering these we'll go to the design of flexible members like laterally supported and unsupported beam once it is over we'll go to the base where the load from superstructure is coming to the ground through the base so that base will be designed we'll be cover after that we'll cover gantry color with respect to steel industry I hope this course will help participants to understand the design philosophy of limited method and the design criteria for different type of members like beam column tension member and footings once we understand the elementary design of different type of members then as a whole the steel structures can be designed because as I told the steel structure consisting of different type of members so once we know the design philosophy of different type of members then as a whole we can design the entire structural system which is which may be building which may be breech which may be transmission tower or anything else I hope this course will be helpful for accurate design of steel structures where the safety will be taken care properly also the design philosophy will be economic thank you very much
