    A measure of central tendency is a representative of the entire distribution. It helps us to understand the importance of the entire set of data in a single statement. There are five different types of measures of central tendency. 

    Arithmetic mean is the average of the entire set of observations.
    Median is the middlemost observation. It divides the observation into two equal parts.
    Mode is the value which occurs the most number of times or with the greatest frequency.
    Geometric mean is the average used when data is given in the form of ratios, proportions and percentages.
    Harmonic mean is the average used when data is given in the form of speed, distance and time.
