Fake lashes are often used for evening and special events. However, they also work well with a cool tone and to add a little "pop" to your look. You can use them with so many other looks as well. Long and lush eyelashes are an excellent way of broadening the eyes and making them look bigger and fuller. It can be easier and more effective than just applying mascara to your own eyelashes. When they are properly applied, they are often hard to detect. Building false lashes. 1. Start by sizing the lashes, to see which size fits on the eyelid best. Hold the lash strip up against the eyelid and gradually trim the lash down in size, until it fits naturally on the eyelid. You can trim the length of the lash too, if you feel it's too long. Ask your client if they have a preference as well. Remember that the eyelashes are normally longer towards the outer corner of the eye. 2. Put a thin line of glue, designed for the lashes, onto the back of your hand. Run the outer seam of the lash along the line gently. Give the glue a few seconds to dry, so that it's tacky. If you try to apply it straight away while the glue is still wet, it could slip and make a mess. 3. Place the lash on the eyelid, as close to the natural lash as possible. Pull it down from the strip, instead of in front of it. This will ensure it gets as close to the lash line as possible. The closer it is, the more natural it will look. 4. Once the lash is where you want it, let it dry naturally. There is no need to hold it. 5. Apply mascara to the false lashes, along with the natural lashes. This will help it blend in and look more natural. Use a dark gray, brown, or natural black mascara. 6. Apply a liquid eyeliner to the upper lids. Fill in the gaps between the fake lashes and the natural lashes, if there are any. 7. A makeup remover will be needed to remove the lashes. Use a Q-tip, dipped in makeup remover. Then gently drag it along the lash line and let it sit. The lash strip can then be pulled off slowly. Don’t rip it off, without using makeup remover, as this can damage the natural lashes and pull some out. Tips: If the lashes are reusable, you can store them for your client, or give them to the client to keep. You should never use someone's fake eyelashes on somebody else. Get a small pill container or another small container and save the lashes. Make sure they are properly labeled and that clients get their own or new, unused lashes. If you are not removing your client’s makeup, be sure to instruct them how to take the lashes off properly and be sure to warn them against wearing the fake lashes in bed. Make sure that you use a strong light when applying the lashes, to make sure that you can see properly and set them in the right place, as close to the natural lash as possible. If there are any gaps, use eyeliner to fill in the spaces and make it look more natural. Let the glue sit for about 15 seconds, before applying the lashes, for the best results. However, be sure to set them quickly when they are ready to be set. Apply the eyelash, after you have finished applying the primer and eyeshadow. When you are applying false lashes, be sure that they go with the overall look. If you are using a soft style of makeup, make sure to use natural looking lashes.
