In this topic, we present some of the top makeup techniques that are used for the lips, eyes and skin and why they are so powerful. Red Lipstick. The red lip is a sign of prowess, assertiveness, and authority. There has been studies conducted on the male response and perception of women wearing red lipstick. A man in general is pulled into a woman’s lips, when they first meet. Hence the reason why biting or licking the lips is a way to grab a man’s attention. Men will spend 7.3 seconds more looking at a woman’s lips when they are wearing red lipstick. It evokes the allusion of being aroused. Look through a magazine and try to find your favourite models and actresses wearing different shades of lipstick. Find one where they are wearing a deep red lipstick and then one where they are wearing a more neutral colour. You will notice a huge difference. The red lipstick draws your attention to the lips that look supple and perfect. Bright Eyes. Studies show that the brain of men interprets larger eyes and fuller lips with higher levels of oestrogen. Men think that women with larger eyes are better mates. Therefore, by creating the Bambi-eyed look using makeup, you can attract the nurturing impulses in men. They dote on you and that is the best way to get them wrapped around your finger. Makeup techniques can give the perception that the eyes are bigger. The idea is to get that big “Bambi-eyed” look which makes you look more like a better mate and appeal to men’s need for a nurturer or someone to carry on their legacy- someone to have their babies and take care of them. That is why when people go to a local bar to meet someone, the women that are wearing makeup correctly will get approached more than those that are not. It is also why there is a daytime look and a nightime look. During the day, the focus is to hide imperfections and make it look natural. Your night time appearance is one that accentuates the features. Luscious Lashes. Back in Roman times, a sign of enhancement, desire, and purity was a set of full and luscious curled lashes. It was thought that the eyelashes of a woman would fall out after they had many sexual encounters. Therefore, women needed to have lush lashes to prove their chastity. Mascara can be used to lengthen, separate, and add volume to the eyelashes. Full lashes also help accentuate the eyes and make them look bigger. It draws attention to your eyes and when it is paired with eyeliner and eye shadow, it gives you a polished look. When mascara is applied correctly, it can make the eyelash look longer and thicker. Full lashes and big eyes are a desired look for many people. Therefore, it is something that you need to master. When the eyes “pop”, it makes the face look welcoming and beautiful and you will be able to really bring out something in your clients, when you can master this look. If you apply makeup to all other areas and skip the eyes, you will quickly notice that the look can’t be achieved without great eyes. Smooth skin and flush cheeks. Health and beauty go hand to hand. The first thing that you notice when you look at someone is their skin, lips, and eyes. Skin that is glowing and cheeks that are rosy portrays health and youth. The rosy cheeks give a sense of innocence, beauty, and sensuality. As long as you don’t go overboard so that you look embarrassed, these rosy cheeks will enhance your look. Not to mention that the blush accentuates the cheekbones and make them look higher. It pulls the focus to the eyes and gives the person a youthful and feminine look. Highlighting those cheek bones, make the client look more feminine and that is something that many women are going for. They want to look and feel attractive and the feminine look gets that for them. There are not many people who do not want clear, smooth skin. It makes you look healthier and more beautiful. The best makeup artists can find ways to hide imperfections and create a clear canvas for their work. The proper application of makeup can create the perception of clear and perfect skin. It is one skill that you will have to learn no matter what faction of makeup artistry you find yourself in. Foundation and Concealer. You can cover up your imperfections with a good concealer and foundation. However, it can do more than just that. It gives your skin a youthful look. It makes your face look clear and blemish free, which translates into health as well. Nobody likes unsightly zits, red and blotchy skin, and other facial imperfections. The use of a foundation and a concealer give you the opportunity to create a clean slate. They hide the imperfections, fill in fine lines and some wrinkles, and present clean and glowing skin. The concealer is an essential part of the process because it covers up the areas that you find imperfect. It is great for filling in those lines around your lips and eyes. It covers up the blemishes. Overall, concealer is the wonder product that gives you the look of smooth and youthful skin. However, it can’t act alone. The foundation needs to be applied next to create the smooth canvas and even tone. The foundation is great for an even toned skin. It works well when it is matched with your skin colour. The idea is to get it as close to your skin colour as possible. This may be different during different times of the year. For example, skin is usually darker in the summer because of the exposure to the sun. Over the year, it fades and is lighter. Keep this in mind when you are applying foundation. You want to be able to blend it in nicely into the neck. Keep in mind that the overall purpose of wearing concealer and foundation is to look natural. You don’t want to cake so much on that it is visible. You don’t want to get a shade that is so much darker or lighter than your natural colour that it is noticeable either.
