Sustain is the fifth and last foundation of 5S. It incorporates the sciences required to keep the improvements and never to return back. Sustaining makes the process of keeping standardized procedures engraved in the daily operation of the workplace. Although it seems like the most difficult part, once done 5S will be much easier than ever before.
Many companies successfully complete the first three foundations of the 5S program:
• Sort
• Set in Order 
• Shine
 
Few companies also keep up with Standardization which is the fourth "S". But, most of the companies have problems with sustaining the improvements. However, it is, in reality, a much easier procedure than most people think.
