The skeletal system is the internal framework of the human body. This course will first discuss the types of bones that make up the skeleton. You will study its functions and learn that it provides support and protection, is involved in the production of blood cells, and enables motion and locomotion. You will then study the main types of tissues and tissue processes found in skeletal elements. It will also cover the axial skeleton (which is the central supporting framework of the body) and the appendicular skeleton (which consists of the bones of the upper and lower members). You will also study the skull, rib cage, and the vertebral column.
