Learn what a project is and how the roles and phases within a project are broken down by studying the course Project Management - Project Feasibility and Life Cycle. Having completed this course the learner will be able to: - Define what a project is; - Use a variety of knowledge-gathering and idea-generating techniques to develop objectives; - Generate simple matrix diagrams to relate objectives to strategies; - Describe the elements of a feasibility study; - Use tools for the development or assessment of a proposal; - Describe the importance of risk; - Describe an appropriate model for deciding which proposal to pursue; - Calculate expected monetary value (EMV) for possible outcomes in a decision tree; - Explain how proposal-ranking formulas work; - Describe the basic and extended life cycles that are used for the management of projects; - Describe the product life cycle and understand the potential variation in the processes used for different products; - List the main activities and tasks of a project manager; - Describe why projects with software content are problematic and suggest ways in which phased development, prototype approaches or agile methods can help; - Draw up a plan for a phased development project based on a simple scenario of the project requirements; - Describe the prototyping life cycle.
