This free online course builds on our Introductory Biology course. It is particularly suitable for any student of biology at second level, or anyone who wants to gain more knowledge and understanding of the biological world around us.

  • By completing this course you will improve your knowledge of the meaning and principles of cell theory. You will be more familiar with different kinds of cells such as eukaryotic and prokaryotic cells. You will understand cellular, aerobic and anaerobic respiration. You will learn the ADP/ATP system and its advantages. This course will help you understand the molecules found in cells such as vitamins, nucleic acids, lipids, proteins, organic compounds and carbohydrates. You will gain a good knowledge of enzymes, the life cycle, basal metabolic rate, homeostasis, photosynthesis, disease, the nervous system and many more intesting concepts of biology.
