  • The goal of Digital Literacy is to teach and assess basic computer concepts and skills so that people can use computer technology in everyday life to develop new social and economic opportunities for themselves, their families and their communities. This course combines the 5 Microsoft modules to offer a comprehensive course on computer basics, the internet, productivity programmes and computer security.

  • Upon completion of this course you will understand the main parts and functions of a computer. You will become more familiar with using the mouse and keyboard. You will gain a knowledge of the hardware, operating system, programs, data, networks and the World Wide Web. You will be able to easily manage your files and folders. You will be more aware of the different types of internet connection available, how to search for information, email and publish on the web. You will gain a good knowledge of advanced keyboard techniques, word processors, spreadsheets, presentations and databases. This course will help you understand the importance of computer security and privacy. You will be able to protect yourself from computer threats and secure your email and exchanges on the web. You will learn about web video technologies, digital photography, speech recognition and many more interesting digital technologies.

  • All Alison courses are free to study. To successfully complete a course you must score 80% or higher in each course assessments. Upon successful completion of a course, you can choose to make your achievement formal by purchasing an official Alison Diploma, Certificate or PDF.
