Our bodies are naturally designed to deal with stress. That\u2019s thousands of hours in a lifetime. Deadlines, difficult managers, team members, career switching, changing work environments and simply not having enough hours in the day can all contribute to stress. It\u2019s exhausting. It\u2019s overwhelming. The workplace can be taxing. But it\u2019s not just work. There are many different factors that contribute to stress which can be both internal and external factors:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0Parenting challenges<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0Studies<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0Personal relationships<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0Financial worries<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0Work<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0Major life changes<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Each of these affects us differently and our ability to cope with ease differs, but if you are able to identify the warning signs of stress, you will be able to manage it better.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>Types Of Stress<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Three main types of stress can be identified:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Acute stress:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> these stresses are a result of a traumatic experience like the death of a loved one, an accident, injury, or violation. Survivors often end up developing unhealthy coping techniques like using alcohol and emotional detachment. In worst-case scenarios, it can turn into PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder) which can last for years.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Chronic stress<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: this a prolonged stress on an individual due to a recurring stressor. These stressors can be work-related or relational. It becomes chronic because they are long-lasting, are more difficult to manage and can end up causing chronic conditions like high blood pressure and anxiety.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Eustress<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: this is also known as the body\u2019s \u201cfight or flight\u201d response to dangers and threats. It raises your awareness and the burst of adrenaline that comes with it prompts your body to either fight or run from the danger.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div class=\"lazy-load-ad\" data-ad-layout=\"in-article\" data-ad-format=\"fluid\" data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-4877892089121284\" data-ad-slot=\"4736694275\"><\/div>\n<h2><b>The Dangers of Stress<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Stress is mental and emotional, but its effects can be physical too. When you leave things to the last minute, you create <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">unnecessary stress on yourself. Set goals, get organised as much and as far as you are able <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and stick to them. It\u2019s not always easy to do, but this means you\u2019ll be able to adjust and <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">adapt to unexpected life emergencies when they arise. Don\u2019t be afraid to seek and ask for help. We <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">aren\u2019t designed to do life alone. There is always someone who can lend a hand if you\u2019re <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">struggling.
