Huw Simpson is an independent software developer from South Africa and an employer who knows the value of Alison\u2019s courses.<\/b> When his friend <\/span>John Taylor<\/span><\/a> was made redundant after working as a motor mechanic for over twenty years, Huw suggested he reskill with Alison.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cJohn and I were already friends\u201d, says Huw. \u201cHe is technically minded, and I felt I could do with a junior developer that I could trust, so I approached him and suggested that he learn to programme. Programming Courses<\/h3>\n

John began taking Alison courses in programming, starting with <\/span>Introduction to Software Testing<\/span><\/a>. He then moved on to more advanced courses, like the <\/span>Diploma in HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript<\/span><\/a>, and hasn\u2019t looked back. John has now begun a successful new career and Huw has a skilled developer he can rely on. \u201cJohn progressed quite rapidly through Alison and has retained much of his training.\u201d <\/span>Huw told us he would potentially look for more Alison Graduates with <\/span>programming skills<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Alison Certificates Recognised in Nigeria<\/span><\/h2>\n

Nigerian employer Ifeanyi Ukandu has employed numerous Alison graduates. He is the HR Manager of Rockgarden Homes & Homecare Agency in Ikorodu, Lagos State, Nigeria.<\/b> Rockgarden offers high quality live-in and at-home elderly care. Ifeanyi has a degree in Business Administration from Ekiti State University and a master\u2019s in Business Administration from the University of Sunderland, as well as postgraduate diplomas in Management Studies and Strategic Management and Leadership. Ifeanyi brings over a decade of experience in Human Resources and Personnel Management to his role at Rockgarden Homes.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"When Ifeanyi sees Alison certifications on a job applicant\u2019s CV, he knows they\u2019ll \u201cbe able to carry out their tasks in line with the best industrial practices.\u201d He\u2019s also keen to hire more Alison Graduates, as long as they can pass the necessary practical tests that Rockgarden gives prospective employees. \u201cWe have a handful of Alison Graduates and they seem well-informed theoretically.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Caregiving Courses<\/h3>\n

Ifeanyi is also \u201cdefinitely\u201d considering introducing Alison\u2019s <\/span>free caregiving courses<\/span><\/a> as part of the standard in-house training for Rockgarden employees: \u201cI\u2019m hoping to go through Alison\u2019s courses to see which ones might be suitable both for our caregivers and our management staff. Courses like <\/span>Effective Leadership<\/span><\/a>, <\/span>Team Building<\/span><\/a> and <\/span>Conflict Handling<\/span><\/a>.\u201d With Alison\u2019s <\/span>Free LMS<\/span><\/a> (learning management system), employers like Ifeanyi can easily devise a learning and development programme for employees and track their progress.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

One of his team members is <\/span>Oladapo Onasanya<\/span><\/a>, from Ogun State who has become Rockgarden\u2019s Business Development Manager, thanks to Alison\u2019s free online courses. Oladapo has a degree in Mathematical Sciences, as well as a variety of certificates from Alison, including <\/span>Business Management<\/span><\/a>, <\/span>Operations Management<\/span><\/a>, <\/span>Sales Management<\/span><\/a> and <\/span>Project Management<\/span><\/a>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI have taken several courses on Alison and I still have other courses pending,\u201d says Oladapo. \u201cI take courses on Alison when I have to change jobs or when I have to complete a business project and need to update my knowledge and acquire skills to be able to do it properly.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Bridging the Skills Gap in Kenya<\/span><\/h2>\n

Alison graduate Christopher Erot often hires others with Alison certifications in his capacity as Supervisor at the Waldorf Kakuma Project, as \u201cthey are high quality workers with experience.\u201d The Waldorf Project is the largest free school movement in the world and their Kenyan project provides education and trauma therapy to refugee children in the Kakuma Camp in north-west Kenya. Christopher believes that \u201cAlison\u2019s online education is very important\u201d. One Waldorf Kakuma employee who has progressed in his career thanks to learning with Alison is <\/span>James Maina<\/span><\/a>, the project\u2019s Procurement Officer. James has a Bachelor\u2019s of Commerce in Accounting and is currently taking a master\u2019s in Finance and Accounting.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cFormerly I was employed as a mere financial assistant\u201d, says James. \u201cHowever, through Alison I received a new job as a Procurement Officer. Through the Alison platform, I have shifted my mindset and become more rational. I have also honed my report writing skills.\u201d James continues to improve his CV and upskill with Alison and is currently studying courses in <\/span>Networking<\/span><\/a> and <\/span>IT Security<\/span><\/a>.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
