Health and Human Development - Global health: health care in women
Health care in women
The main causes of morbidity [1] in industrialised countries are heart
disease, stroke and cancer. In developing countries, these diseases will
become more prevalent as the western lifestyle and their accompanying risk
factors of smoking, diets high in fat and lack of exercise are adopted.
The poor health of women compared to men in developing countries can be
attributed to women's limited access to education, limited availability of
and access to health care and to a lower socioeconomic status.
