Artificial synthesis of DNA

Synthetic DNA can be manufactured if the total sequence of the amino acids
[1] making up the protein molecule is known or if the sequence of bases for
a particular gene is known. The process is a reversal of what takes place
in protein synthesis and is computer controlled to ensure the appropriate
correspondence of bases.
