Biology - Genotype and phenotype

Genotype and phenotype

The way an organism appears structurally, the way its body functions and
the way it behaves, refers to the phenotype of the organism. The genotype
refers to its genetic makeup or set of coding instructions that it carries
in the genetic material of its cells. Geneticists study the influence
environmental factors have on the genotype. [1] A comparison can be made
with a computer. The hardware and operating system of a computer is
equivalent to the genotype, and how a person operates and uses the software
is equivalent to the effect of the environment. [2] The outcome depends on
the potential of the computer and the ability of the operator. The effect
the environment has on the potential of the genotype results in the
phenotype.

Phenotype [3] = Genotype [4] + Environment [5]
