Physics Enthusiasts Given Free New Learning Options

Can’t tell the difference between AC and DC current? Unsure what the photoelectric effect is? Not to worry! The online e-learning provider, ALISON, has just released two free introductory Physics courses. The courses provide a comprehensive grounding in Physics and are an ideal complement to regular classes or as a resource for someone pursuing an interest!

This free online science course presents the learner with a basic introduction to the world of physics - the study of matter and its motion through space and time. Using an interactive presentation style, the lessons attempt to introduce the fundamentals of science and explain how the universe behaves in its simplest terms.

As physics is the scientific study of energy and matter and their interaction, the course begins by examining electrical energy and introduces electrical systems, circuits, capacitators and currents. The lessons then look at magnets and the effects of magnetism in the universe. The first course concludes by exploring sound energy and the effect of soundwaves in spacetime.

The second course explores topics in more depth including motion and investigates a plethora of phenomena including acceleration, collisions, projectile motion and work energy. It then looks at gravity and uses Newton’s law of universal gravitation to explain this phenomenon and its effect on matter in the universe.

This course is a useful introduction to those who wish to learn and understand the role physics plays in our world. On completion of the course, learners will have an enhanced appreciation of this influential science and understand how the various occurrences that occur in nature can be explained in terms of simpler phenomena.

The course is ideal for students studying for exams, those wishing to acquaint themselves with fundamental scientific principles or for those who want answers to various phenomena occurring all around us.
