Make Free Calls and Share Videos with the World with Free Online Course

Computer and internet enthusiast have cause for celebration today with the release two new free courses on the ALISON platform. Today’s announcement by ALISON, the free online learning website, offers a comprehensive introduction to two of the most popular applications on the web– Youtube and Skype. On completion of the courses, learners will be able to effortlessly share and discover video content on the web and communicate with friends and family over the internet for free. The courses are ideal for not only computer novices but those who would like to discover the full range of functionality on these essential web resources.

Skype is a revolutionary technology, which is bringing the world closer together by allowing free voice and video calls over the internet. The software can be downloaded for free from the website and it is compatible with almost all computers and operating systems.

The Skype course will show learners how to install, set up and make calls to friends, family and colleagues via Skype. The video-based course will then proceed to explore more advanced functions such as voicemail, conducting video conference calls, sharing screens and recording calls.

By getting up and running on Skype, learners can join the estimated 600million users worldwide and connect with friends and family, conduct business conference calls and bypass the costs of phone calls on traditional land lines.

YouTube is the world’s favourite video-sharing website where users can upload, share, and view videos. The video-sharing platform offers the potential to broadcast your own videos to millions of viewers across the globe.
The course, developed by the award-winning multimedia teacher Russell Stannard, will show the learner how to sign up to Youtube, upload a video and a make edits to make their videos as attractive, informative and searchable as possible. The course also shows the learner how to embed Youtube videos into forums and websites and how to download and convert videos for viewing offline.

The courses are free, self-paced and on completion of the lessons, learners are entitled to receive a certificate of completion to prove to potential employers their new skills.
