ALISON expands its Microsoft Digital Literacy Arabic suiteThe online learning provider ALISON has expanded its Arabic course
offering and now has over 20 hours of digital literacy online course
content delivered in the Arabic language.
As the importance of IT skills become ever more important, an ambitious
social-enterprise is offering an innovative free online option for
up-skilling. The online course-provider, ALISON.com has teamed up with
Microsoft to launch over 20 hours of free Arabic computer courses.
The courses offer an informative and practical introduction to
computers and include modules on computer basics, the internet,
productivity programmes and security and privacy online.
The courses are free, self-paced, interactive and certifiable. The
lessons are ideal for the computer novice looking for a manageable
step-by-step introduction to computers or for those looking to take
their knowledge to the next level.
On completion of the course, learners will have an enhanced
understanding of ICT systems and the role they play in modern society.
It is particularly useful for those who are expected to use computers
on a daily basis.
The release of the course coincides with the proliferation of internet
usage and access in the Arabic-speaking world where internet usage has
increased almost 2000% within ten years.
Speaking at the launch of the courses, ALISON CEO Mike Feerick said
“Competency in computers has never been more important. Today, as more
and more of our daily tasks are available online it is important people
have the skills to access these online services.” Mr Feerick then went
on to add “We are delighted to expand our Arabic offerings. Many of our
learners are based in North Africa and the Middle East so we are
delighted to be able to increase the amount of courses delivered in
Arabic.“
On completion of the course learners are entitled to receive a
certificate of completion to prove to potential employers their
competency in the subject. Trainers and teachers are able to monitor
and guide students using ALISON’s learner management system.
