Webmail Basics - New Gmail course from ALISON

ALISON is pleased to announce the imminent launch of a new online training course for the popular Google™ Web-based e-mail (or Webmail) service, Gmail™ (Google Mail™ in the UK and Germany). Webmail services such as Gmail allow the user to access their e-mail from anywhere there is an Internet connection, and Webmail has therefore become the norm in personal e-mail use. However, it is also quickly becoming the standard for workplace e-mail too as more companies migrate to SaS, software as service applications.

The Gmail e-learning course from ALISON is a short course designed to cover the basics of Webmail, from signing up for Gmail and getting started using Gmail, to receiving and sending messages. The potential Gmail user will receive a thorough grounding in the basics of Gmail and ALISON has plans to extend the course to include more advanced topics over the coming months.

“A personal e-mail address is a prerequisite for accessing ALISON's online courses and we spend a lot of time guiding new learners through the steps of establishing an e-mail account”, said Ivan Morrin, Content Manager at ALISON. ”It made sense for us to provide our potential learners with a way to learn about e-mail and learn how to set up an e-mail account for themselves”, he continued. Mike Feerick, CEO of ALISON, says that the course is particularly suitable for any individual that is new to the Internet and e-mail. He believes that the course will be popular with Seniors, Workforce Development programmes and emerging economies with Internet training requirements.

For this course, ALISON’s technical and instructional design team implemented some very eye-catching course features, including some innovative graphics and the use of interactive multimedia with audio. Access to the course is free for any individual learner once they have registered with ALISON. ALISON also provides companies and organizations with access to the course for a small charge.
