W3C Validation for ALISON!

What is W3C Validation?

Validation is a process of checking your documents against a formal standard, such as those published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) for HTML and XML-derived Web document types. It is similar to spell-checking and proof-reading documents for grammar and syntax, except that it deals with precisely-specified machine languages, not with human natural language, which is often less defined.

Why Validate?

Different browsers can display the same page very differently. A browser when used on an Apple Mac or on a PC running UNIX or Linux will often display the same content in a different way. Also, a visually-impaired user can for example select very large print or text-to-speech. Validation does not guarantee accessibility for people that cannot use conventional browsers, but it is an important component in the process of making a Web site accessible.

Why has ALISON exercised due diligence and become W3C validated?

At ALISON we are committed to allowing anyone, at any time and in any place to access all of our content for free. We have therefore to ensure that all of our learners can access our service in an equal manner, and that their experience does not vary as a result of their geographic location or by virtue of the browser or operating system that they use.
