ALISON launches a new training module that helps organizations understand the environmental issues they face and how to reduce their impact
With global warming, pollution, and greenhouse gases being discussed on a daily basis, environmental impact is now firmly on the agenda for many organizations as both a corporate responsibility and a sustainability issue. To address this, a leading UK health and safety consultancy has now partnered with ALISON to launch a new online training module that covers corporate environmental issues.
The Environmental Awareness module, created by Praxis42, explains the main issues in today’s environmental debates; how these are impacting upon the environment, and what can be done in the workplace to improve an organization’s environmental performance.

“Global warming, greenhouse gases and carbon footprints are now daily news items, making the environment an essential item on any company’s agenda, both as a corporate responsibility and sustainability issue. However, it is a complex subject and many organizations have little knowledge of how to improve their own performance, or where to go for help and advice. That is why this module should prove invaluable in helping employees understand their obligations and effectively control the risks which may impact upon the environment.”
The new Environmental Awareness module explains the main issues that impact the environment and what governments, agencies, and individuals are doing to reduce these risks. It provides a good working knowledge of environmental issues, and explains how actions at work can affect performance and what they can do to reduce environmental impacts.
Estelle continued: “Impacts on the environment can, and are, being reduced where there is a desire for change. The main theme of this module is that by improving environmental awareness, everyone in the organization can contribute to a significant reduction in harmful impacts, and play a positive role in the future of their organization’s environmental performance and of our environment.”
The Environmental Awareness training provided on ALISON covers key issues including waste, energy, air emissions, travel and noise. It also provides an overview of the international environmental management system standard, ISO14001. It can be delivered online through ALISON to each trainee at their computer and the training can also be completed at trainee’s own pace. Trainee progress is checked at the end of each section with a self-assessment form.
