Leading UK Healthcare Organization embraces ALISONLondon, May 16, 2008
St Andrew's Healthcare, a leading UK not-for-profit charity located in Northampton, has adopted ALISON for some of its training needs. St Andrew’s IT Trainer and Coordinator Shereen Johnson has enrolled forty-five learners to an ALISON Manager group account and believes the response has already been terrific. Shereen expects over ten new learners to enrol each week.
“Initially I set up a small number of staff to use ALISON as a taster to provoke feedback. These people came from various areas of the hospital including nursing, management and the warehouse. After a number of weeks, it became apparent that many of these people really liked what they saw” said Shereen.
“We decided to invest in the ALISON Manager LMS and base the learning on the ECDL Office 2003 courseware. At the time staff were studying both the ITQ and the ECDL qualifications, so this seemed to be the ideal choice as it provided additional support for both qualifications. We introduced more staff to the course and requested feedback throughout their studies. To date we have 45 learners still piloting ALISON and in July of this year, we will be promoting ALISON hospital-wide”, continued Shereen.
Shereen believes that ALISON has appeal to a broad range of learners: “In August of 2007, a young lady signed up for a course. English was not her first language and so we believed that the course may be possibly too difficult for her (so we thought). During March and April of this year, she completed all seven modules and attended the ECDL examinations – she passed them all and put her achievement down partly to the ease with which the ALISON course is delivered!” said Shereen.
Shereen is adamant that “with all of the new courses being added to ALISON, I will be encouraging other departments to look at ALISON to support training needs other than IT”. “St Andrew’s is an exceptional client”, says Heidi Hannant, Head of UK Sales at ALISON. “Their facilities have an excellent reputation and their choosing ALISON as a training provider is truly a compliment.”
