ISTE Affiliation and Endorsement for ICDL Program

ALISON IT TRAINING - ISTE APPROVED

ICDL Obtains ISTE Affiliation and Endorsement

The International Society for Technology in Education has determined that the ICDL program is ISTE-aligned.

ISTE has determined that ICDL certification clearly supports the implementation of the ISTE National Educational Technology Standards (NETS) and prepares participants to substantially meet both the NETS-T (NETS for Teachers) and NETS-S (NETS for Students) initiatives.

ICDL awards a "Driving License" to participants who successfully complete all seven of the assessment modules. An ISTE review of the assessment modules determined that successful completion of all seven modules assesses:

  • NETS-T performance indicators I.A. and V.C.
  • NETS-S performance indicators 1A and 1B
  • NETS National Adoption, Adaptation and Alignment
At the state level, 49 of the 50 states have adopted, adapted, aligned with, or otherwise referenced at least one set of NETS standards. This means that your state is probably already aligned to ICDL, making it easy to start an ICDL program at your school. ALISON can assist you in planning an ICDL implementation.

National Education Technology Standards (NETS-T and NETS-S)

ISTE’s NETS describe what students, teachers, and administrators should know and be able to do with technology to improve educational outcomes. ISTE’s NETS are scalable, evidence-based educational technology standards with broad application around the globe. More than 90% of all states in the Union use NETS or a NETS derivative for educational technology planning.

ALISON is an approved ICDL training partner. The ICDL-US Organization proudly displays its designation as an ISTE 100 Member. The International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) completed its review of all seven modules of the ICDL-US Assessment on October 10, 2003, and determined that successful completion of the Assessment clearly supports implementation of the ISTE National Educational Technology Standards (NETS) in a specific, carefully reviewed and documented manner.
