ALISON is seeking an individual to manage both the Programming (80%) and Systems Administration (20%) teams. This person will help to further develop a world-leading website for online education and training. Particular focus on managing relationships with development partners within the Middle East.
Primary Duties:
- Managing and developing new tools and applications for the company’s e-leaning portal, in cooperation with the Design and Multimedia department
- Maintenance and upgrading of existing applications
- Oversee technical support
- Generate a weekly report of all IT activities within the company
As a key part of a small team, the successful candidate will have a wide range of responsibilities: from extending the capabilities of our IT architecture (Moodle, PHP, MySQL, Apache), to high-end application development and general systems administration/network management as well as problem-solving skills.
The successful candidate will have a similarly wide range of experience in managing teams, systems architecture, software development and network administration.
The successful candidate will have at least two years experience of developing Web-based applications using PHP/MySQL and of working as part of a team. They should be extremely proficient implementing page layouts using HTML and CSS, with excellent attention to detail and a commitment to high-quality work alongside the Design and Multimedia department. Their experience will incorporate at least ten e-learning projects, with a minimum of three large-scale e-learning systems serving thousands of active learners. Arabic fluency required, but experience of the culture and markets of the Middle East and Gulf regions will be a further advantage, as will experience of dealing with educational institutes and large multinational organisations. The successful candidate will have previously held a leadership role within a Web Programming team, and preferably a Software Management position for at least two years. All candidates must possess at least seven years experience in the IT industry, with at least two years of developing social networking features for Web 2.0 type sites (e.g. Facebook, YouTube). The candidate will be a highly-experienced programmer within the Moodle platform, with membership of the core programming team providing a distinct advantage.
