Working in partnership with Thare Machi Education (TME), a UK-registered charity working with community-based partners in the developing world, we have brought TME’s interactive DVD HIV/AIDS Awareness programme to ALISON. From learning about HIV tests, to living with HIV/AIDS, the content is presented in a very clear and straightforward manner. An individual learner or instructor can also check for understanding using the interactive quizzes provided.

ALISON is working with TME to bring many of their educational programmes to the ALISON free learning platform as we both agree that the need is great. Twelve million children in Africa have been made orphans by the AIDS pandemic, and in some communities women in particular have never even heard of AIDS, let alone know how to avoid it. So far, more than 15 million people in Africa are estimated to have died from AIDS – more than the highest estimates of many wars and official genocides combined!
