Introduction
Computing is an important part of everyday life in the twenty-first century. Computers have changed the way we work and live, and more and more people use computers for long periods of time. This has health and safety implications. Workstation ergonomics is concerned with using the science of ergonomics to ensure that we stay safe and healthy as we interact with computers in our daily lives.

After completing this course, you will be able to:
- Define desktop ergonomics.
- Identify factors affecting workstation ergonomics.
- Recognise the key factors for effective VDU use.
- Identify the types of equipment that can create an ergonomic workstation.
- Recognise the physical and environmental factors that impact on an ergonomic workstation.
- Recognise musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs).
- Identify methods of preventing MSDs in the workplace.

Course Length
The course consists of three lessons covering eight topics and two case studies. The course duration is approximately two hours.
Assessment and Certification
After completing the lessons you can take an assessment to test your knowledge. Completing all of the topics in the course and answering the assessment questions with 80% accuracy automatically qualifies a learner for ALISON Certification. An ALISON certificate holder can download and print their certificate, and can demonstrate their credentials using the ALISON Flash Test service.
