Making Essential Learning Freely Available
Does your organization have a mandate to educate society about certain subjects? If so, you should be talking to ALISON about making such learning freely available to anyone who is interested in it, no matter where they are!
Our starting point is basic and essential skills. Throughout the world, in both developing and developed countries, many people are deprived of education that is vital to their well-being and life-prospects. ALISON has an incomplete portfolio in this area, and while we are working hard with organizations worldwide to complete our portfolio as best we can, we still need your help.

We are interested in every area of learning, but most particularly those described as being essential to personal well-being. Among the subject areas within which we are seeking sponsors are the following:
Personal Health, Personal Finance, Adult Literacy/Reading, Numeracy, Higher ICT, Workplace Health & Safety, Business 'Softskills' (e.g. Customer Service, Conflict Resolution etc.), Entrepreneurial Skills, Languages.
Our development focus for this past year has been on workforce skills. While life-skills are important, making oneself more valuable to an employer is still the most promising road to greater material success in life.

A Case Study - Financial Literacy ALISON, through sponsorship by the Three Rivers Workforce Investment Board, Pittsburgh, and the Heinz Endowments, developed a Level One Basic Financial Literacy Certification for the USA in 2007. This course was first made free to the individual learner in June. To read about how this project came about and how it may point to how your organization would work with ALISON, please click here.
