Quick Guide
SHAPES™
Personality and Competency Testing
This test covers how a person acts in the workplace in relation to different personality types. It can determine how the test taker would deal with someone of the direct opposite personality type, and suggest to management how to get the best results from someone with a certain personality type.
Personality is a term which is commonly used in everyday language but it has a particular ‘official’ meaning. It can be though of as those aspects of an individual which distinguishes them from other people and make them unique, but which at the same time permit a comparison between individuals.
Personality is different to motivation which is goal-directed behaviour designed to satisfy needs, interests and aspirations.
Personality is not the same thing as ability which is the ability to identify, understand and absorb the different components of a problem.
Personality is not the same thing as culture which is the values, attitudes and beliefs we share with others about the nature of the world.
VIEWS™
Assess Your Values, Motives and Interests
A value is a cluster of beliefs, which guide actions and attitudes. Values are much more resistant to change than attitude.
Therefore it may be important for an employer to assess a job candidate's values prior to offering them employment.
VIEWS can also be applied in counseling, development and coaching situations.
For individuals, ensuring that your underlying values are aligned to your job is also very important. VIEWS can be quiet informative as far as matching your values with a company's values.
In summary, VIEWS provides a quick, reliable and comprehensive assessment of personal values and motives. It is the ideal tool for examining your motivational style and values.
