Mike Feerick, Chief Executive Officer
Mike is the founder of ALISON and an experienced Internet/Technology entrepreneur.
He founded ALISON in April 2007 when he realized that recent innovations in ICT Technology would enable high quality interactive education and training to be provided with free access online. Not only could ALISON become a highly scalable and sustainable business, but it could also have profound social impact through its free education and training services, opening up new opportunities for advancement to people across the world, particularly those marginalized, such as the unemployed, elderly, young, and emigrants, and people living in developing countries.
Mike founded YAC (www.yac.com), a leading unified messaging/telecoms company (acquired by J2COM NASD, July 07), and Advance Learning (www.advancelearning.com), a leading global provider of interactive multimedia courseware for IT Literacy. Mike also served as Acting MD of Interactive Investor and on the Board of BMG Music UK.
With over 15 years of focus on Internet-related businesses, Mike is exceptionally knowledgeable and well-connected within the global Internet community.
He has had extensive experience with non-profit / philanthropic educational organisations serving as a Director of the University of Limerick Foundation Board (93-96), and also as Founding Chairman of the International Advisory Board of the Kemmy Business School. (www.ul.ie) (94-96).
Mike has also served as Director and Chairman of the Irish Charitable Trust based in London and is the founder of Ireland Reaching Out, a project reunifying the Irish Diaspora online.
Mike was awarded an Ashoka Fellowship for Social Entrepreneurship in Education in 2010. He is a member of the Clinton Global Initiative and the Global Irish Economic Forum.
Mike holds a BBS (UL) and MBA (Harvard) 94.
