MS DLC (Module 2 only): The Internet and the World Wide Web
Introduction
The Internet can connect you to people, information, and resources around the world. Whether you are entirely new to computing or have some experience, this curriculum will help you develop a fundamental understanding of computers. Version 2 of the Microsoft Digital Literacy Curriculum (MS DLC) includes rich examples and screenshots to train you on Microsoft Office 2007 and Microsoft Windows Vista.
ALISON have, with the agreement of the Microsoft Corporation, made this course freely accessible to any individual on the ALISON website. Any teacher, tutor or HR manager, at any school, community centre or business, can also use our online learning management system, ALISON Manager, to manage groups of learners taking this course - for free.
This second module of the Microsoft Digital Literacy Curriculum shows you how to connect to the internet, browse web pages, navigate websites, use search engines, and exchange e-mail with others. You can take this module by itself, or you can go to the full Microsoft Digital Literacy course, which includes all five modules, integrated assessment and certification.
What You Will Learn

- Identify the requirements for an internet connection.
- Explore websites by using a web browser.
- Search for reliable information on the web.
- Explain how to perform transactions over the web.
- Write and send e-mail messages.

Prior Knowledge Needed
Module 1 of the Microsoft Digital Literacy course (Computer Basics), or similar experience.
Course Length
The course consists of four lessons, covering a total of 16 topics. It will take about 2-3 hours to complete.
Assessment and Certification
There is no assessment available when you take this module as a stand-alone course. However, this module is also available as part of the full Microsoft Digital Literacy course, which includes assessments at the end of each of the five modules.
