A Local Need Providing a Global Solution
ALISON, in partnership with the Three Rivers Workforce Investment Board in Pittsburgh, PA, and with the project's financial sponsor, the Heinz Endowments, has developed an entry-level course on Financial Literacy that is now being taught to marginalized, mainly inner-city residents of the City of Pittsburgh and its surrounding neighbourhoods.
The Heinz Endowments, one of America's best known philanthropies, identified an immediate need to provide education on personal financial management to a range of residents who had till now, received no formal training in how to manage their money. With the assistance of the financial expertise of the Society of Financial Service Professionals (FSP) and other such organizations, ALISON produced an attractive interactive multimedia course that can now be studied online.
The Financial Literacy course is proving hugely popular in community learning projects across the United States. In particular, the course is proving popular with organizations dealing with the education of ex-offenders. For further information on this course, information on early programme adopters, and for general information in relation to the course's development, please contact us.
ALISON is in discussions with leading financial authorities worldwide with the purpose of developing this base course into a three-tier global financial literacy certification. If you would like to become involved in this project please get in touch with us. We welcome new partners to this initiative.
