A New IT Skills Training Programme for Irish Small and Medium-sized Enterprises
Beginning January 2008, FÁS and ALISON are offering an IT skills training programme to employees of small and medium-sized enterprises in the FÁS Western Region of Galway, Mayo, and Roscommon.
We have partnered with the FÁS Western Region to provide an online training programme in IT skills, called Digital Enterprise to employees of small and medium-sized companies in the west of Ireland. IT skills are needed for almost every job function in a modern competitive economy; companies are becoming ever-more reliant on those skills being acquired by all employees. Any company concerned with its long-term competitiveness should take advantage of this unique offer. Please note that the training also covers all aspects of health and safety relating to an employee’s interaction with their display screen equipment.
The programme, which has a retail value of up to €2,500, is fully-funded by FÁS and the European Social Fund.

As places are limited, we are advising companies to secure a place for their employees at this time. Until January 15th, ALISON will conduct telephone consultations with interested companies to provide further details about the programme.
Step One Participate in an initial consultation with ALISON to discuss the suitability of the programme for your company. We will then send you an application.
Step Two Identify a minimum of five employees that could benefit from the programme. Ideal candidates have little or no prior IT experience. Keep in mind that this programme is suitable for all employees from entry-level to senior management.
Step Three Once we receive and review your application, we will be in contact to discuss how best to implement the programme in your company, identify potential programme participants, and to agree a start date.
Step Four Each trainee nominated for the programme will be appointed a Mentor by ALISON. The Mentor will help get the programme started and assist the Trainees every step along the way.
The programme will begin no later than January 15th 2008, and will conclude no later than April 15th 2008.

ALISON has also committed the time of its technical and education support teams to mentor trainees. Employers are asked to encourage their employees to participate in the programme and to assist with its implementation within their companies. Minimal costs to the employer can be incurred in cases where employees decide to apply for the ECDL Start Certificate. ALISON will provide full details during our initial consultation with interested companies.
