Alison is an exciting e-Learning website that offers FREE online content to various school subjects including IT, CAT & Computer Literacy.

There are lots of CBT-courses that can be used to enhance every learner’s learning experience.

In Computer Literacy for Grade 8 & 9 learners we use a course called: Alison-ABC IT. Alison offers a course management module and continuous online assessments. This can be used to track learner progress and learners can print a certificate on completion of a course.

Since IT is offered as an extra subject we are confronted with time constraints. We use Alison’s MS Excel & MS Access courses for the students to work through on their own. Since Alison is online the learners can access the content from home or any place with a decent Internet connection. Together with Moodle we aim to make IT a true e-learning experience.

Alison features many other courses which we still need to explore for subjects such as Life Orientation, Mathematics & Physical Sciences. For adult education and staff development there are courses such as Project Management & the ICDL.

Alison uses multimedia content through your Web browser and downloads the content as needed, with a proxy server used to cache the content. This allows us to easily accommodate up to 42 students in two computer rooms simultaneously on a 4M-ADSL line.
