Prospective multimedia and web development enthusiasts have been given a new way to learn with the release of a new suite of online interactive multimedia suite of free online courses. ALISON, the free online learning website, officially announced today the release of a suite of web editing and design courses to the general public. The video-based tutorials are delivered by award-winning multimedia teacher Russell Stannard, now of Warwick University, which help you explore multimedia applications and examine webpage, animation and graphics editing and design. The courses are ideal for those looking to improve their workplace skills, those who wish to develop new skills in their spare time, or share professional multimedia applications with friends and family.

The courses are free, self-paced and certifiable. Delivered using screen-capture technology, the Web Page Development lessons identify the skills and techniques needed to create professional-looking websites and introduce the basic languages and programmes needed to create and style websites with programmes such as HTML, Cascading Style Sheets and Adobe Dreamweaver

The animation course teaches the learner the skills to create high-quality animated multimedia videos using Director MX 2004 that can be used in both a professional or personal context.

The graphic editing and design course explores the fundamentals of design principles and examines their application using Adobe Photoshop CS3. The course is ideal for creating and editing graphics or simply enhancing photos to give them a polished, professional look.

On completion of the course learners are entitled to receive a certificate of completion to prove to potential employers their new skills in Web Page Development, Graphic Design and Animation.
